Prompt:
Write a conversation between two characters who think they don't know each other, but actually have many friends in common and have met on a number of occasions.
“Sir Jor it is a pleasure to meet you.”
“Likewise,” The distinguished older man replied, “I believe I’ve seen you before, but alas, I’ve never had the opportunity to learn your name.”
“Halda.” The wise woman replied, “Where have we met before? I’m curious; my mind is usually good on remembering faces.”
He chuckled, “I rarely enter the public unhooded. Today’s a rare exception.”
“Ah!” she exclaimed, “That explains a lot. Were you at Prince Borthir’s recent celebration for the hunt? The Council of Elders?”
“Yes, although reluctantly for both,” he said, a slight smile on his face, “I only went to Prince Borthir’s celebration because I’m good friends with one of his advisors. Similar story for the council. Sir Tik called me a crotchety old man for missing the previous meetings.”
“Sir Tik? I’m good friends of his! I’m surprised he didn’t call you worse.”
Jor chuckled again, “I may have left out the more … personal details of what he said.”
“Sharp of mind, sharper of mouth, that Tik,” Halda replied, “Humor me for a second, but is the advisor of Prince Borthir you’re friends with Madam Ros?”
Jor barked a laugh, “Yes, indeed she is!”
Halda burst out laughing as well, “How have we not formally met before?”
