General Overview:

The Jecholt started out as a hive-mind with one goal in mind: perfection as a species. During an era akin to pre-industrialization, this led to the Jecholt breeding whomever was the best at hunting Qolp, one of their main food sources, thus adding to its combined intelligence and prowess. Due to the difficult nature of catching a Qolp, one of the side effects of this was increased intelligence, eventually leading to rapid scientific and industrial growth. During this time of rapid growth—it is not known when it first occurred—the Jecholt began to give their outgrowths, not yet known as individuals, more and more autonomy, as to ease the burden of controlling all at once. This led to its rapid destabilization, leading the Jecholt to become their own people. The remnants of the hive-mind still exist, however, just much subdued. All Jecholt have the ability to communicate to one another telepathically—a term their top scientists hotly disagree with—which led to confusion during their first meeting with aliens species when they encountered communicators. Another remnant of the hive-mind is the urge for species-wide perfection, shown nowadays through extensive scientific research on the legal side, and prolific modding on the flip side. The Jecholt continue to be the lead innovators in the Coalition of Andromeda.

They were one of the founders of the Coalition of Andromeda.

Historical Events

The Stagnation

During the Jecholt’s early days, it decided to focus on improving physical strength to increasing its ability to hunt. This led to a plateau of ability and growth for the Jecholt since strength was not all that was needed to hunt the local wildlife. For a long time, it did not have the ability to think of a better way. However, after some time, its imperative for self improvement proved too powerful to ignore, leading it to try random actions. One of these actions—increasing mental capacity—is was finally gave let it break free from the stagnation.
